History and background of
Enrico Coveri
: |
 |
Enrico Coveri was born in Florence, Italy in 1952. He studied at the Accadema delle Belle Arti in Florence.
In 1973, he began working freelance for several companies, creating knitwear and daywear lines under the name Touche, among others.
He moved to Paris in 1978 to work at the Espace Cardin, the vast design institute set up by Pierre Cardin. Shortly after that, he returned to Italy and established his own company in 1979.
Coveri was a bold designer of young, fun-loving fashions. He blended strong colours into striking, clever designs of knitted tops and trousers that had a broad appeal. He was also known for including comic characters and pop art designs in his clothes.
He died in 1990 when he was only 38 years old.
His sister Silvana and her son Franciso Martini (born 1975) took over the operation of the house of Coveri. In 1996 they brought out a "Young Coveri" line using the colourful designs similar to those use by Enrico earlier.
The Enrico Coveri ready-to-wear Spring/Summer 2003 collection was presented during the Milan Fashion Week in October 2002 which was very well received. The Coveri ready-to-wear collection for this season, was shown during the Milan Fashion Week in October 2003. The prints and colours of the designs were bright and brilliant as is the fashion this season.
