Yves Saint Laurent has released many of its fragrances in conjunction with L’Oreal. The company has origins going back to the 1960s, and its founder, Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, began his career as an assistant to Christian Dior. After serving time in the Algerian War, Saint Laurent would develop his own fashion brand house, and he became known around the world for his tailored women’s suits. Many fashionistas also credit him for developing the first women’s tuxedo.

This is a nice clean barbershop type frag. Doesn't smell like an old man, just classy like you just finished a nice shave. Good for after the gym or in the morning... I spray some on before work once in a while.. I like barbershop scents even though those fragrances were before my time. Not a date night or evening frag.. More if a clean throwback fun Barbosol smell

Just perfect
This is the holy grail of classic manly cologne. I've searched for that old school barber shop smell for years and once I found this my search ended. It just smells...clean. I can't describe how great it really is. It's a "you'll know it when you smell it" sort of thing.

How I remember it
I remember this fragrance from when I was a boy. My father wore it and it still has the fresh clean smell. It's old school but I do enjoy the fragrance.

Best Scent Ever!
I've been using this stuff since it was invented and though I sometimes use other scents, this is simply the one I prefer and the one that works best on me. I lasts longer, with my chemistry, than any of other the hundreds I've tried. Spectacular scent! Extremely difficult to find now, so am happy FX still stocks it. You,also, don't need to bathe in it to get the desired effect.

Yale rive gauche
Ysl rive gauche is thee perfect barber shop shaving cream scent.With notes of lavender and the main attraction guaiac wood,it is so fresh and so clean!!very nice,suited for dressed to impress scene.Longevity7+hrs. With moderate projection then it dials down.It is so fresh and so clean!!!

Modern Barbershop
Best men's fougere. Better than the classic Azzaro Pour Homme because more modern notes and better longevity. The drydown extends beyond the barbershop and doesn't have that displeasing dry dirt smell of Azzaro. Instead, it has a creamy anise (watch out how you read that part) scent for for most of the 4-6 hours that it lasts. Too bad this was discontinued, as men's fougere just doesn't sell as well as it used to. Paradoxically, women love the barbershop scent on a man, but men generally and mistakenly think women are not attracted to the shaving cream smell. Guys, women go CRAZY for men who smell CLEAN and MASCULINE. Rive Gauche has a barbershop vibe but so much more than that.

One of the Best Colognes of All Time
This has to be one of the best colognes ever created. I haven't tried the re-formulation but why bother whilst you can still get the original. This is my signature fragrance and only use it sparingly on special occasions. I always receive positive comments from the opposite sex whilst wearing Rive Gauche. I believe Yves St. Laurent are creating some of the nicest colognes on the market at the moment. You simply can't go past Fragrancex for some of the best prices on the net and access to colognes you can't find anywhere else. My next order is already on its way.

Clean, clean, clean
Yes, it does smell like shaving, as many people have commented; but it's high-end shaving cream, not cheap smelling stuff. Others have noted a similarity to deodorant / antiperspirant. That is true to a degree, but I think most would recognize this as a more carefully crafted scent than the generic clean scent you might find in a deodorant or shaving cream. Unfortunately, I would have to say this is not a good value, considering what it now sells for after being discontinued. On the other hand, if you already know what this smells like and you love it, you may not care what it costs.

Classic, but far from dated.
I have been using this product since 2005 and love it as much today as I did 8 years ago. It absolutely smells like you just walked out of a barbershop with just a hint of spice. Don't think of Clubman by Pinaud or PS by Paul Sebastian, but think Barbasol with a dash of anise and oakmoss. Is it riveting? No. Is it good? Absolutely. It is my go-to when I (1) can't decide what to wear and (2) want to play it safe, but not too safe. It always draws compliments and lasts a good 6-8 hrs on my skin. With that said, longevity is above average and I say projection is average on the borderline of just slightly below average. With all that being said, I give RGPH a solid B+/A-!!!

Masculine and Sporting
A 1970's style cologne that's clean, sporty, athletic. It's more adventuresome than elegant and works great with a polo shirt and khakis. Not the most subtle scent but it is well balanced and does draw compliments. The metal container it comes in makes it great for travel.

it's a class fragrance from YSL.First it's a little spicy when it settles down it becomes clean and powdery.İt's not a overpowering fragrance . lasting power is moderate. i recommend this fragrance for daily use
