Feeling sophisticated
1000 is a true classic! At first sniff I wasn't that impressive since it smelt like an old soap. I left in on the shelve for months to enjoy other fragrances I had. Surprisingly when I apply it today it turns out to be a soft, warm, powdery, lady-like, sophisticated scent that I really love. It's long lasting too but not overpowering (like many perfumes do). I feel honored to have a chance to be an owner of 1000. An excellent work that lives up to its house Jean Patou (and at the same time what a shame that it no longer exists). I'm considering trying other perfumes from Jean Patou (although it's quite expensive) to have a glimpse of its gloriousness it once occupied.

Classic perfume. Like Joy, one of my favourites it smells expensive and it is. It is exotic and suitable for winter evenings. Best suited for mature women.

An old school fruity floral
This is an old school fruity floral. The fruity florals done today are so sweet, almost like fruit punch. This is a beautiful composition of florals that are powdery, fruits that are sweet but not in a gourmand way and woods that are never masculine. This perfume is very feminine and it is the type of scent that my grandmothers wore. That is not a bad thing, those women knew class and sophistication. They would never have dreamed of going to a wedding in shorts, out to dinner in crocs or to the store in their PJS. I wasn't going to invest in a full bottle because I didn't know if I would wear it, it does have a "dated" air about it but I just kept going back to my sample and decided that yes I will wear this and wear it proudly. A fragrance this beautiful should be worn w/ pride. Perfume like this isn't made in today's day in age, our age of fabric softener or aquatic "clean" vibe or our overly sweet and sticky gourmands. This is a vintage classic from Jean Patou and I am glad I have it in my collection.

I tried this fragrance and it is beyond disgusting. My main source of happiness is that i did not get the larger bottle. This smells like permanent waving solution with lilies on top. It is awful to me

This is my signature perfume by which others remember me. It was instant love when I first tried it many years ago. Now, in the winter of my youth, I still prefer it to all others. This is my first buying experience with FragranceX, & it will not be my last. Been looking for 1000 by Jean Patou for a while. Not a safe blind buy
While I like powdery fragrances (I love ALL types of fragrances from gourmand to ouds), I have other powdery old school fragrances I prefer. This is lovely, don't get me wrong, but it's so retro that I doubt I would wear this in public. Definitely try it, but I would not recommend blind bjying 1000.

I have used it for 30 years. Each time I need my friend to bough it for me in Hongkong. It's much cheaper there. Thanks to FrangranceX who can help us to get it and others old fragrances for us. But even with the discount, the shipping rate is also high. It will be good if that the rebate is higher. Delivery time is very good. Fast and nicely wrapped. I am happy with FrangranceX.

I have seen ads for 1000 over the years, but never had the chance to try it. It's a pretty strong fragrance at first.....maybe a bit too strong. But the dry down is quite lovely. Younger women may find it too "old" for their taste, but it must have a big following to last so long. Just a little will go a long way.

A perfume enigma. The scent mysteriously changes!

ONE OF MY VERY FAVORITES
I discovered this perfume when I was in my 20s thru a wonderful lady who worked a perfume counter in a department store. This is one of the most beautiful fragrances I wear. I prefer woodsy with a little spice, not much, fragrances, and this one is one which I absolutely adore. I don't need an occasion to wear it; I will wear it any time I wish--it's one of my signature fragrances, just lovely. I would imagine it's not one for everyone, but I have yet to wear it and not be asked about what fragrance I'm wearing. I believe it takes a bold stance and may not be for 'everyone', but if one likes a woodsy fragrance with a lasting scent, this is THE one. I would very highly recommend it for those who prefer to make their own statement without following the crowd. It's a very special fragrance.

A Timeless Classic
On my honeymoon, 44 years ago, my husband purchased a 1 oz. bottle of Joy. I wore it all the time until I discovered 1000. I've been wearing it for a very long time and always get compliments. My son and daughter love the fragrance on me. So much so that my daughter is now wearing it after we gave her a spray bottle for her handbag. Be careful where you purchase it from, especially the real perfume. Due to it's price tag, it probably doesn't move off the shelf as quickly as some other fragrances.

BEAUTIFUL
Another beautiful fragrance. this one is a bit more open than others I wear, but the scent is fascinating. I have been wearing it for over 30 years, and I absolutely love it. I am thrilled that it is sort of a 'secret' and not endorsed by a hollywoodlander; it's classic and not for everyone. it has a sort of mysterious woodsy fragrance with a small bit of spice, I guess, but not enough to make it overwhelming. I absolutely adore this fragrance, always receive compliments about the scent. it's a wonderful little secret only for those who appreciate woodsy with a small bit of spice in for tease.

This is a very special perfume. The scent is very subtle. When I open by scarf drawer I draw a deep breath. Difficult to find that's why I was so happy when I found it on FragranceX. It's expensive but it's well worth it. I always receive compliments. Love it.

1000 perfume by Patou is a wonderful perfume that when describing it, people leave out the most important aspect, it has the scent of evening violets, which is why it can be so appealing to those who first smell the strong aroma. I bought an ounce of 1000 in 1990, and the cost was [$].And that was in the midwest. I then bought the powder, body lotion, and EDT. Just when I came out of the shower while visiting friends I have known for years, the husband said, "It smells like old lady perfume," well, that sure burst my bubble, I thought I was smelling so fine, just like an evening violet. Ouch. Too bad, I just sprayed more on, Suffer. I still continue to keep it in my perfume curio cabinet. When I feel down and need an uplift, I will use it, as a special treat instead of the daily perfumes that I switch. I especially like it because you don't smell it on everybody like Obsession, Poison, etc.I think a perfume should reflect one's mood at the time, not because its the scent everybody is wearing. I think my collection of perfumes reflect my many moods, some to uplift, some to just walk the dog. They are very personal to me and each perfume has its good and bad qualities, just pick your poison (not Dior). I even have Love's Baby Soft in my collection. But 1000, has a fragrance that if you close your eyes and spray some on, you will immediately smell evening violets, and you feel like you are walking in a botanical garden of violets with Chanel shoes on.Pure class.
