I use it lightly, because it persists all day, daily. I never tire of the scent. I feel an immediate kinship with anyone I notice wearing it. I've come to like it's cousin, Vel Ami Vetiver which has an added floral note.

As a woman, I am very picky about what sort of scent my man is wearing. And I make it a make or break point. I have given Bel Ami as a gift, and it has never been a bad move. Jazzy, Amber ... and not 'musky'
I've only bought ONE cologne twice (now three times) in my life. This is it. It has lasting power, well beyond 8 hours. But as it wears off, it isn't cloying, or thick, or like dried flowers. Bel Ami remains sturdy, manly in a very unique French sort of way. I generally apply once a day maybe 3 days a week, unless going out in the evening. If applied close to an event, make sure you use sparingly. The aroma is delicious, but if too much is used, it will take over. Count on its lasting power, its intrinsic strength ... and sparing use does the trick. In contrast, I also use Guerlain Homme for non-Bel Ami days (especially at work), and Lacoste for weekends. 3 fragrances to define the week. One to rule them all. A remarkable unconventional scent, but anything but 'weird'.

my scent since 1986
My eternal fragrance since 1986, It was a gift and I still have my first bottle (empty) as a souvenir. Its a masculine smell, classic and rich, especially for a dining out, a trip to the opera or a pianno concert.
