Lanvin is a French fashion house that has roots dating back to the early 20th century. The founder spent her early years working as a dressmaker and milliner, and she eventually went on to manufacture her own clothing for sale. The brand really made a name for itself around Franch for offering matching ensembles for daughters and mothers to wear together. It was not long until the company began expanding in other areas, including furs, dyes and undergarments. The brand released its first fragrance in 1924 and has continued to release perfumes into the 21st century. Today, the company manufactures its fragrances in conjunction with Inter Parfums. this is a mainstay in my collection. I have two bottles, becuz the last time I ran out of the one, I had, and went online, shopping for another 3oz bottle, the price was so out of hand, I had to wait forever for it to come back down...add to that, I couldnt find this at the independent fragrance retailer in my neck of the woods. This is VERY hard to find, and when you do find it on line, its never very affordable. And it shouldnt be, bcuz its quality demands that you pay a pretty penny for it. If you like collecting scents, this is a very solid one to have on hand.

Less expensive alternative
I've purchased Arpege by Lanvin here at FragranceX for a long time now. But, I just found the same thing, same size, at [...] I was frustrated that I couldn't get a larger size, and then while searching found a great price.

OK Oriental
This is a very pedestrian oriental fragrance. It does have tremendous staying power. It is very sweet and not as dry as other orientals--Cartier Pasha comes to mind. I would choose Pasha over this one, unless you are a fan of pepper which sits on top of this fragrance and gives it a great start before it settles down to the typical oriental.

Half the size
This is my favorite cologne. I'm just really disappointed about only the smaller size being offered. Used to be able to get 3. something. Almost twice the size, for close to the same price as what you want for the 1.7. It's to the point now where I can't afford it.

A very nice powdery vanilla-ish scent
I use the cologne anytime I wish. It's a very nice fresh, powdery scent with vanilla overtones. FWIW, I don't care much for "classic" men's colognes that smell of moss, leather, woods, etc. Wanna be like every one else? Get Drakkar Noir. Wanna choose your own style? try a vial of this as well as a few dozen others from this site and see what you like.

Now THIS is a signature perfume!
This perfume is an outstanding creation proving once again that Lanvin are in a class of their own. It is superb from the first spray until drydown. It is strong but not overpowering and I get a lot of compliments for using it; it lasts the whole day and in the evening is still very noticeable. Solid as a classic but also modern, sophisticated but very masculine and sexy. If you would be forced to wear only one perfume, this is the one I would gladly recommend!

As good as the original
I used the Lanvin for men (the old one, 1975 ish) for many years and then could not source it. This Arpege for men is not the same, but as good as. My wife comes sniffing around as soon as I put it on. She just loves it. Draws comment from every lady that smells it. Young man; this will greatly improve your success rate!!

Just a Perfect Cologne by all means
This is what Armani Black Code could not be.It lasts very long and is just a great cologne,never owerpowering,nor causing headaches,it is just a pure-blend and finely refined cologne.Just great,and nothing else.
