About Eau Du Sud
Annick Goutal launched Eau Du Sud in the 1980s as a love letter to the Mediterranean. It's one of those fragrances that transports you somewhere immediate and real—not some fantasy version of the South of France, but the actual thing. The sun hitting your skin, the smell of herbs dried on stone, the salt in the air. Goutal, herself a master of olfactory precision, created something that refuses to be just another floral cologne. It's got backbone.
Fragrance Family:
Citrus Floral
Scent Type:
Fresh, herbal, aromatic, slightly green, with delicate florals
Notes:
The opening hits you with crisp bergamot and lemon—bright and immediate, like stepping into sunlight. Lavender joins the party almost at once, which could be a cliché in lesser hands, but here it feels authentic. The heart softens into neroli and jasmine, which add a floral restraint rather than sweetness. What makes Eau Du Sud cologne different is how it doesn't cling to the floral middle. The base comes in quietly with cedar, vetiver, and just a whisper of musk. This is the herbal dry-down that makes it work as well on skin as on fabric. No heavy woods, no vanilla hiding underneath. Just clean, honest dry warmth that lasts.
Suggested Use
Apply to pulse points while skin is still warm—wrists, behind the ears, the base of your neck. A single spritz goes far here; this isn't a fragrance that needs hand-wringing. Eau Du Sud cologne performs beautifully in warm weather, but honestly, it works year-round because it's so balanced. The herbaceous heart means it won't feel cloying in summer heat, and the cedarwood base gives it enough substance that it doesn't vanish in cooler months.

The best version of Eau Du Sud
I also owned the current newer version of Eau Du Sud with the bronze cap. But the old square bottle is way better in terms of projection and a tad sweeter. Do get a hold of this version if possible. Can be worn all year round.
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

Wonderful, long-lasting summer scent
This fragrance is a fruity citrus in the opening (lemon, verbena) and dries down to a wonderful woody base. Most citrus based scents die out after a couple of hours, but this one is REALLY long lasting, especially for an EdT. I bought my bottle for use in the summer months and intend to make use of it on especially hot days. The scent is not cloying or overpowering, making it ideal. Delivery to the UK was in under a week and was trackable throughout. That's what I call service!
