Gentleman's Little Brother
As the title might've indicated, Custom is basically Pursuit's little brother. Both are warm, clean and classy frags, with a distinctly transatlantic vibe; they keep close to the body and fade quickly. The main differences are twofold: first, Custom is fruitier; second, it is even more astoundingly short-lived. Custom opens with apples, and vanishes in under an hour. Despite the fruitiness, it's not sweet, and it's very noticeably a male fragrance - there's a boyish spriteliness to it, cheeky and clean-cut without being overbearing. In this sense, the opening actually beats Pursuit, which has something of an odd synthetic orange note to it. The drydown, like Pursuit, is a low, complex mellowing of notes, with the apples giving way to vanilla and black pepper. The drydown is also where Pursuit takes the lead again. While Pursuit isn't a long-lasting frag, Custom is a mayfly. The Dunhill magic at the back end runs out easily within the hour, and the blocky bottle doesn't lend itself to being carried around (compare Pino Sylvestre), so it's basically an aftershave in terms of application. Nevertheless, it's very pleasant while it does stick around, and could easily be worn in hot weather or a crowded workplace.
