Krizia is the Italian fashion brand founded in 1954 by designer Mariuccia Mandelli and her husband Aldo Pinto. The brand name comes from the character Crizia, who spent his money on clothes and jewelry for women in one of the Greek philosopher Plato’s dialogues. Mandelli successfully grew the business through the 1970s by gaining acclaim for her collections. She is also known as one of the earliest creators of very short hot pants.
