I would but this product again and again

Givenchy iii was my "one and only" for most of my adult life, devastated when it was discontinued and was so excited to hear it was re-launched but new version is feeble by comparison. If you are a fan of the original in all its earthy glory, buy vintage only!!

Found!!! an increasingly rare fragrance.
Great to find this older fragance which seems to be getting increasingly rare. It was bought for a family member as a thank you present, knowing that it is the only fragrance that she will wear. I know she will be absolutely over-the-moon when she receives it.

I'v used this fragrance many times since the early eighties. It became harder to find in Australia so I bought it on trips to Europe. Last year I found a bottle in Harrod's on a brief trip to London, but it's finished and I can't believe they've disontinued it. I'm not sure if the newer one was exactly the same as the original, but it was still wondefully light and fresh, with beautiful grassy flowers that had absolutely no hint of cheap or cloying, so I could wear it any time, but particulaly in warm weather. As I live in Brisbane where it's warm and humid for most of the year, this was one perfume I could always rely on. Please tell Givenchy to re-issue it.

The best perfume ever made!
This is my almost favourite frag. My favourite is the original - a vintage one dating back from the 80's. This is clearer, softer and perhaps a little more feminine than the original. It lacks a bit of the bitteness in the basenotes, but more important the blast - "umph" - when you put it on. Still it's a very beautiful, feminine scent. After the initial galbanium/hyacint hit you can almost see the soft petals from the jasmine and rose surround you. It's also perfectly following the three stages from top to base without beeing monotone in any sense. The drydown is beautifully elegant from the oakmoss and patchouli. I'm amazed! They don't do perfumes like this anymore and still they've succeded again. This is what I call a chypre. Yet it misses a bit of the thrill that the original gives you, A gutsier start and more of bitterness in the end as the original Givenchy III has would make it more intriguing. But maybe the original should be just the original? I have the priviliged possibility to use this one daytime and the original nighttime, as long as they both lasts.
