Serge noire
possibly my favourite scent from the lutens metier, strange, complex, oblique and haunting with its opening stockade of precious woods, incense middle and ghostly encore of low bonfire spices and funereal smoke. Not for everyone,obviously, but a masterpiece in my top three of all time. At once melancholy and inspirational, this is something you can imagine Byron wearing. An astonishing achievement.
