FAQ for Le De

What does Le De by Givenchy smell like?

Le De by Givenchy is an elegant and refined fragrance that captures the essence of sophistication and timeless allure. It opens with a fresh burst of citrus and green notes that smoothly transitions into a heart comprised of floral accords, featuring a luxurious blend including lily of the valley, ylang-ylang, and jasmine. The scent gradually settles into a warm and woody base with hints of sandalwood, oakmoss, and subtly sweet elements, providing an understated yet compelling aroma.

What is the hottest perfume right now?

While 'hottest' can be subjective and depend on trends, seasons, and personal preference, fragrances such as Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, ZARKOPERFUME The Muse, and Le Labo Santal 33 are currently popular in luxury spaces. Le De by Givenchy remains a classic favorite for those captivated by a fragrance with rich history and elegance.

What is the difference between Eau de Parfum and Le perfume?

Typically, Eau de Parfum (EDP) and Le Perfume refer to different fragrance concentrations and formulations within a scent line. EDPs generally have a fragrance concentration of around 15-20%, which allows for a long-lasting scent, often throughout an entire day. The term 'Le Perfume' could denote a purer, more intense concentrate often called Extrait de Parfum, which usually has an even higher fragrance concentration, typically around 20-30%, resulting in a rich and enduring scent. However, note that 'Le Perfume' can also be a specific line or variant exclusive to the branding approach taken by the fragrance house.

What perfume did Audrey Hepburn wear?

Audrey Hepburn was famously associated with L'Interdit by Givenchy, a fragrance created specifically for her by Hubert de Givenchy. L'Interdit, meaning 'The Forbidden', was initially distributed privately to Hepburn and only made public later on. This perfume features an elegant blend of floral and aldehydic notes and epitomizes Hepburn's iconic style.

What are the fragrance notes in Le De by Givenchy?

Le De by Givenchy's olfactory composition is sophisticated with a nuanced blend of fresh, floral, and woody elements. It opens with delightful top notes of citrus fruits and greens. The heart is enriched with a bouquet of floral accords such as lily of the valley, jasmine, and ylang-ylang, creating a soft yet vibrant floral presence. It rounds off with deep and warm base notes of sandalwood, oakmoss, and a hint of musk, offering a well-rounded and enchanting fragrance experience.

Is Le De by Givenchy suitable for all occasions?

Yes, Le De by Givenchy is versatile and elegantly designed to complement a variety of occasions. Its refined scent profile makes it ideal for formal events and evening wear, adding a touch of sophistication and class. Simultaneously, its delicate floral notes provide a freshness that is suitable for daytime use, whether in a professional setting or a casual outing.

Can Le De by Givenchy be worn by both men and women?

Le De by Givenchy is marketed primarily as a women's fragrance due to its floral and elegant scent profile. However, the warm woody and green undertones can appeal to any gender who appreciates a classic and sophisticated fragrance experience.

Thank you!

I was thrilled to get this perfume which has been unavailable for so long. However . . . while this version is delightful, it is only an echo of the original perfume! Some of the original notes can still be identified, but the deep, sensual notes that made it essentially Le De are missing.

Not the same scent

I first bought this scent in a fragrance boutique in Tours, France, in 1968. I bought the eau de parfum strength. I also purchased it in the US until it suddenly disappeared. Unfortunately, what is available now is a feeble eau de toilette, and it bears no resemblance to the eau de parfum or the

eau de toilette I remember so well. It is a weak reforumulation and lacks the floral (jasmine), spicey characteristics that made it so distinctive. When I smelled Le De for the very first time, I could not recall ever having experienced such an original fragrance. I thought I was standing at the gates of Paradise. That wonderful smell is obviously gone for good. The only positive thing I can say about this eau de toilette spray is that it is inoffensive and you get a lot of it -- but this is NOT the intoxicating fragrance I remember. I am heartsick.

I would never buy again

As so many reviews have pointed out, the new Le De is a poor replacement for the original. I was so excited to see it was available again so I ordered it. My granddaughter said it smelled like bubblegum! It sits unused on my perfume shelf. Christalle is my go to now which is often out of stock. A decent replacement for the original LeDe but nothing will ever measure up to the Le De of yester year.

Bottom Line

No, I would not recommend to a friend.

Not The Same

Bears little resemblance to the Le De I wore in my college days! Betty Davis, who wore this scent exclusively, would be very disappointed in the new formula. I was!

Spring lily and lilac

nothing in commun with Le De from the 60ties, but a very soft lily of the valley and lilac fragrance. Too weak IMO.

'Tis Amazing that this even exists!

I usually buy at least 2 bottles when they are in stock. I keep one in the icebox--which I notice is a (popular AND) wise place to store your stash privee'. There were a few years when this scent was not made anywhere on this earth in any form. Today's scent is lighter and does not last as long as the original formula. Buy plenty! But to critics, I say--be glad of today's gifts and enjoy. To FragranceX--merci. If you love florals that are not overpowering that men like, Diorissimo (it IS original formula) is another favourite of mine. I use it as a special ocasion fragrance especially in Spring and Summer--and FX has it, TOO!

Not what I expected

This perfume was a "re-launch" which, in perfumer's code talk means "re-formulation." This scent bears no resemblance to the original Le De and anyone who orders it will be disappointed. The sexy, intoxicating but never overpowering Le De is apparently gone forever. The original was an unforgettable smell -- there was nothing like it. I don't know why Givenchy tinkered with a good thing, unless it became too expensive to make. Jasmine, violets and coriander were some of the ingredients I remember that went into this perfume. Although it does not smell bad, "ce n'est rien de special," as the French would say. Nothing special. Weak, nondescript -- and expensive.

Bottom Line

No, I would not recommend to a friend.

At last!

I used this fragrance exclusively during the 60s and 70s, and paid about $100 an ounce for parfum. By the 80s I was having trouble finding it, and purchased it for the last time at a duty-free shop in Fiji in 1988. I have been searching for it ever since. The scent brings back many memories of my days and adventures as a young bride. I am thrilled to have found it once again!

New look and smell

I purchased Le De because I have used this scent since the 60's. I don't think it is just a new package. This Le De does not smell like I remember. I doubt I will buy another bottle. I will find another scent.

No, I would not recommend to a friend.

Delighted! Le De my favorite!

I have been looking for this relaunch, since it is very hard to find. Looked all over internet. Found one 2oz for $200.00. I didn't want to pay that much. Had small amount left of old bottle...still smelled great. Found and bought this relaunch from FragranceX. Great order experience and thrilled to get it. Got the last bottle you had in stock. Yay! This is a wonderfully complex and feminine scent. I compared the two on each arm. So close, the difference is hardly noticable. In my opinion the classic fragrances are the best, especially Givenchy, Dior & Ives St. Laurent. These are my favorite fragrance houses. In my opinion, they are the "creme de le creme" of the French houses. Their fagrances rock!

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

I Love this perfume

I only buy French perfumes and it all depends on my moods as to which one I wear on that day. This perfume makes me feel like a hundred dollars and elegant. Does not hold. If sprayed on wrists you may not smell as well than if used between the breasts which is where I spray perfume, then only have to bend my head to get a nice whiff!

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

The most beautiful perfume I every wore.

Back in the 60's when I was in my 20's, I wore it when I had a very important date. I wore it for special occasions - it's a dress-up kind of scent. I never forget its fragrance nor the way it made me feel when I wore it. It is my all time favorite but it has become very expensive over the years and has almost priced itself out of my budget.

Happy Le De is Back

Missed Le De when it disappeared. Used to use the actual perfume, but am happy to have the scent, even in the Eau De Toilette Spray. But no scent should come in such a large bottle. It doesn't give the user a chance to finish the bottle before the scent fades.

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.
