Perfumers Workshop was founded in 1971 by Donald Bauchner and his wife Gun. The concept behind the company was inspired by the popular perfume oils of the decade. The Bauchner’s sought to deconstruct classic perfume making and allow consumers to choose the ingredients of their own fragrances.

The company sold its perfume oils in Bloomingdale’s department stores and opened shops in London and Paris. Many ready-made fragrances were launched during the 1970s and worn by notable celebrities including Grace Kelly, Princess Diana and Nicole Kidman.
