Really, sillage is the reason perfume is worn in the first place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Origins of Sillage or the \u201cFragrance Trail\u201d<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Originating from the French term for \u201cwake\u201d or \u201ctrail\u201d, the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">term sillage<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has only gained recent popularity in the American lexicon. Pronounced \u201csee-yazh\u201d, it has picked up steam thanks to fashion publications who use it to compare and contrast different fragrance types. The term can be used to describe the projection of scent for both perfume and cologne.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perfume Vocabulary and Other Fragrance Terms<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When searching for a new fragrance, it\u2019s important to know the language associated with perfume in order to pinpoint what will work best for an individual\u2019s unique body oils and pheromones. Note<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notes are the different scents a perfume gives off. Concentration<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Perfume concentration refers to the strength of a fragrance. Parfum\u2019s concentration is the highest, meaning it has the highest perfume-oil-to-alcohol ratio, with eau de toilette having the next highest and so-on.
