There are many different strategies you can use to help combat stress. Essential oils, meditation, creative activities, and games and puzzles, are all great ways to manage stress for all ages.

Essential oils can be used for aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment to promote health and well being. Certain scents can actually help your brain to relax. Fragrances like lavender, chamomile, and bergamot can help you sleep, make you feel calmer, and help you focus.

Meditation and Mindfulness

Meditation and mindfulness are extremely important for stress management. When meditating, the brain is practicing very specific and controlled mindfulness. By doing this, you can decrease the levels of stress hormones in your system, preventing negative health outcomes down the road. There are many ways to practice mindfulness. Some of the most common practices are breathing exercises and yoga.


One of the best ways to relieve stress is to find a creative outlet. By using your creativity, you allow positive hormones to be released in your body. These counteract the stress hormones, and over time, your overall happiness will increase.

Games and Puzzles

Another great way to relieve stress is to spend time on mental games and pursuits. Working on a crossword puzzle or playing a strategy game can be so engrossing that it takes your mind off of anything that is causing stress in your life. When you do these things, you are then able to return to your stressors with a refreshed mind, body, and spirit. This will make you work more efficiently and result in long-term stress reduction.
