Black Soul Cologne By Ted Lapidus for Men

Black Soul Cologne by Ted Lapidus, Black Soul is a men’s woody spicy cologne with warm spicy and balsamic main accords. Released in 2009, this fragrance blends resins, cinnamon, and tolu balsam with mint, guaiac wood, cardamom, and musk. Additional notes include saffron, Chinese cedar, neroli, lemon blossom, and bergamot. With moderate to long lasting longevity and moderate sillage, this scent is best for fall and winter night wear. Perfumer Alexandra Carlin of Symrise is the nose behind this aroma. The flacon is black with a silver topper.

Ted Lapidus founded his fashion line in 1951, after serving an apprenticeship with Christian Dior. He is known for creating the unisex look, bringing safari and military looks into haute couture, and popularizing blue jeans. In the 1970s, the brand broadened its product offerings to accessories and began working with L’Oreal on fragrances. Jacques Bogart Group currently holds the fragrance license and the Lapidus fashion house focuses on accessories and fragrances, retiring haute couture. All products are original, authentic name brands. We do not sell knockoffs or imitations.

Hey, everyone. Sess here. And today I'll be reviewing Black Soul by Ted Lapidus. This 2009 release is made up of warm, spicy, and balsamic accords. It's dominated by notes of tolu balsam, raisin, and cinnamon, supported by spicy notes like cardamom, mint, and saffron, woods like gaiacwood and cedar, musk and bergamot notes, and florals like the neroli and lemon blossom. I recommend it for fall and winter night wear, and I love its longevity. That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this review. And please don't forget to follow FragranceX on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. And please subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Amazing Fall Scent, worth every Penny!

This is a darker and warmer scent. It does have this slight black licorice scent at the end of the dry down. Just something about this cologne that just different than anything else I own. Dry down is excellent and lasts for hours. I would say this would be a great choice for fall & winter use. But

I've worn it during the summer months on an evening out. It's a tad sweet when you first spray it on your body but light spray in the air to walk through would do the trick, don't let the price go you, it's a great value for a great cologne. I wore it today and work and several people ask w by at that great scent was. So well worth the price.

Interesting

The longevity surprised me. You definitely need a light touch for this or it will overpower you and everyone in its blast radius. There's a minty note which can smell a bit weird with that initial cloy and somewhat strange top note. It takes a few minutes before it develops to something quite

pleasant (again, light touch!) Definitely not natural or light. This is heavy and rather cloy, so probably not for warmer climates. I did find myself getting used to it gradually but isn't for everyone. You'd have to be adventurous to try this.

So special.

Great earthy smell. Always get good feedback from it. It's not overpowering like some. Always use this. Great delivery, fast and efficient.

The Value Option

Great packaging and scent for the price. It's similar to some of the sweeter, bolder fragrances that are popular right now. Lapidus is definitely worth checking out, make a couple blind buys into this house in the $20 range and see what you think.

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

Not for me

Pungent top, though that passes. Actually, if you can tolerate the pungent start, it fades to a pleasant sweet, spicy minty mids. Smells rather like Intenso or Arrazo? (I could be wrong). It is indeed Sweet & dark. Longevity is excellent. I found this too heavy smelling for me though. Maybe will get a really small bottle. Maybe.

Bottom Line

No, I would not recommend to a friend.

Best TedLapidus I baught !

I have totally disliked "Altamir", been pleased by "Ted Lapidus pour Homme" I just finished, but Black Soul is far the best of all 3 ! Black Soul opens very salted (sea notes) then turns very fast to spicy, floral, gummy/grappy on the same intense resin and honey base shared by most Ted Lapidus fragrances. The fragrance leaves a global dark impression, if it was a flower it 'd be a black tulip or rose in an oriental vase ! I won't make it my signature parfume, but I'm happy to have discovered this very strange, powerfull, murky cold weather fragrance. .

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.
