Thomas Carlyle Ford founded his eponymous company in 2005. Though Tom Ford is known internationally for his design and fragrance work, he also had a foray in the film industry in 2009 with his film A Single Man, which was met with good reception by fans and critics. The fashion industry was not always his primary interest, as he studied at Parsons School of Design with a focus in architecture; however, during an internship abroad, Ford recognized his passion for the industry and began to pursue it with great success. He first landed positions with Cathy Hardwick and then Perry Ellis before directing his career launching marketing campaign for Yves Saint Laurent after it was acquired by Gucci. Considering the cost of this product (one of the most expensive around) and the very small bottles, I would have expected a longer-lasting scent. It is an understatement to say I am extremely disappointed.

A fragrance that stays

It was a great buying experience. The cologne on the other hand was a different experience than a quick sniff in-store. It is a heavy powder smell. Probably best to be paired with another fragrance. Overall, the item shipped quickly and was a good price.

Great scent
I purchased this for my husband because he likes Black Orchid and wears it the majority of the time. I convinced him to try this after receiving a sample. He likes it, however the scent doesn't last and he has to keep applying it. And, this costs more than Black Orchid.

Make no mistake this unique smell is for the man with a subtle but undeterred confidence of self. The smell comes in fresh and powdery, but unlike anything that you have smelled before. I have never used a Tom Ford before and decided to purchase after sampling scents at the store this one stood out . The wow factor is amazing. You will definitely get a huge amount of compliments. This fragrance is AMAZING.

I'd been keen to try some Tom Ford for a couple of years, after complimenting a friend for wearing it. Noir is intensely clean for a U.S. frag. I suspect it's the combination of subtle peppers running with a myrtle or verbena top note, giving the whole frag something of a vetiver/alpine feel. Unfortunately it's a fragrance that I love to smell on others and distinctly unisex in how it works, but it doesn't work that well for me, as the sillage goes from a very clean chypre down to a slightly ashy basenote on my skin.
