Serge Lutens is an artist who has explored numerous different mediums, including photography, film, perfume design and fashion design. It was not until 1982 that Lutens really got his start in the perfume industry when the Japanese cosmetics company, Shiseido, brought him on to develop a line of products. In 2000, Lutens began developing his own fragrances under his name.

Christopher Sheldrake is the perfumer responsible for developing Chypre Rouge.
