Romeo Gigli History and background of Romeo Gigli. Romeo Gigli was born in Bologna, Italy in 1951. He comes from a wealthy aristocratic family. His childhood was saturated in art history and over 20,000 antiquarian books in his father's library, over which he pored. These gave him an appreciation of beauty which underlies his work. I first discovered this fragrance in the mid-80's and absolutely fell in love with it. It bacame very difficult to find so you can imagine my excitment when I found it readily available at FragranceX. This is my second order within six months and for a reason that brings tears to my eyes. I am 5 year colon cancer survivor. My youngest daughter who was 16 when I was diagnosed in 2004 told me that while I was in the hospital she found such great comfort in wearing my perfume to school and to bed because she could "smell" me and feel my presence with her during such a stressful and uncertain time. She is now a senior in college and my older daughter is the mother of my only grandchild. I gave each a small "sample" of Romeo Gigli at Christmas and what a thrill it was for each to tell me recently that because the smell reminds them of me, this is their favorite fragrance too.

I always purchase the same perfume from Oscar Del Renta for years. This time I wanted something new and I founded it in Romeo Gilgli. It a small amount but the scent is soft, romantic, provocative, and long lasting. So,I only needed a little.

      After being told countless times by my twenty-something children that all the perfumes I wear make me "smell like an old lady," I analyzed what I was wearing. I figured out that I am drawn to classic floral scents that in comparison to newer contemporary scents do remind one of the older generation. In my search for something that appealed to me, but also smelled fresh and contemporary, I ordered a dozen sample vials from Fragrance X. Most of them smelled very similar, however, two from among them are standouts. Romeo Gigli is one. I absolutely love it; it's very different, very pleasing, very contemporary. I only found one drawback... it is a bit weak. I checked the sample thinking perhaps I got eau de toilette, but it was eau de parfum. If I can get it in straight perfume I will, but not sure it comes that way.
