History and background of Pierre Balmain. Pierre Balmain was born in 1914 in St. Jean de Maurienne, a small village not far from Aix-les-Bains a fashionable resort in the Savoy Mountains of France. this is a perfect fall/winter scent, it is spicy, but not too spicy. It starts out sweet then becomes spicy, then the flowers in the the heart take over. At last it, becomes warm and ambery and the lasting power is great. I love this fragrance.

Soft, subtle, sophisticated --- this scent is the opposite of most current fragrances for women. Very pretty amber perfume, much more wearable than many other ambers. The bottle is also exquisite, a big heavy Art Deco-like piece. Lovely!
