The Halston fashion line’s name is derived from the middle name of Roy H. Frowick. While he spent much of his early career designing womenswear, he expanded his repertoire to include menswear, handbags, luggage and fragrances. Over the years, Frowick achieved great personal fame and notoriety through his designs. He created the pillbox hat that Jacqueline Kennedy wore to her husband’s inauguration in 1961. My new signature fragrance
Halston Amber is a terrific Oriental Woody masculin fragrance, with niche quality and superb blending. I blind bought it after being really impressed with same brand Z-14. Halston is not sold in my country so I bought it on line (a USA store). It opens in a very shy way with the top notes having difficulty in dominating the evaporating alchool. A couple of minutes later you get a strong clean blast of sweet myrhh and amber (not overly sweet). You actually feel those notes taking over the air around you. They stay pungent (in a good way) through the appearance of the bottom notes (mainly oud and sandal) to calmly hand over the control to the long marvelous woodsy dry down with the strong oud compleatly tamed. If you forget the not so in control opening, this fragrance is a lesson of notes extreamly well blended, with an above average longevity and an average to above average sillage and normal projection. In all the stages the fragrance had a classy/expensive scent. I do recommend this Fragrance (a lot). My rates for Halston Amber: - Scent:.........................9.5 (my judgement, classy and hard to beat as an Oriental /Woody) - Longevity:...................9.0 ( >10 hours, 3 initial sprays) - Sillage:........................8.0 (sillage peak at 5~6 feet, projection for 3~4 hours) - Versatility:...................9.0 (just avoid very hot days; very good for almost any situation) - Compliments...............9.0 (very serious compliment grabber) - Uniqueness:................9.0 (some minor similarities with some upscale fragrances) - Quality:........................9.5 (it smells very expensive and classy) - Presentation:..............10.0 (beautiful bottle, very good over all quality) - Price:............................9.5 (low price for 125ml) Average: 9.17/10.00
