Annick Goutal didn’t start out as the international perfumer she is known as today. In the early years of her career, Goutal was a prizewinning pianist and model. She fell in love, had a child and then separated from her child’s father years later. She was left to raise her daughter Camille on her own. In the years following her daughter’s birth, Goutal fought and won a battle with breast cancer, married her childhood sweetheart and started her own skin cream business. In 1977, she met perfumer Henri Sorsana, and the two of them went on to design a line of fragrances that evoke memories for Goutal and awaken the senses for those who smell them.
