Annick Goutal Vetiver Cologne by Annick Goutal, Annick Goutal Vetiver is a men’s woody spicy fragrance that was launched in 1985. The fragrance, with its woody and aromatic main accords, has moderate longevity and sillage. It is recommended for day wear through the spring, summer, and fall seasons. The scent has a sea salt top note and a strong heart note of vetiver and spices. The sandalwood, tobacco, and tonka bean base notes round out the aroma.

Annick Goutal was a talented young pianist who became a fashion model in London before returning to Paris to open an antique shop and later, a store selling beauty creams. Fascinated by fragrances, she studied in Grasse, France and launched her fragrance line in 1981. She began collaborating with perfumer Isabelle Doyen in 1985, working with her until her death in 1999. Her daughter Camille has carried on her mother’s legacy and continues to work with Doyen to create new scents. All products are original, authentic name brands. Close but not the same as Annick Goutal Vetiver Les Colognes

I bought the Eau de Toilette (EDT) version of Annick Goutal Vetiver thinking it was a more potent version of Annick Goutal Vetiver Les Colognes. In a way it is, because they both smell very similar, nearly identical. However, the Les Colognes is slightly lighter and brighter and greener smelling. The Les Colognes is definitely the fresher, breezier smelling of the two. The Les Colognes was created in 2013 by perfumer Isabelle Doyen, whereas the EDT version was launched in 1985 and developed by perfumer Annick Goutal. One word of caution, though... If you're not already familiar with Vetiver EDT or Vetiver Les Colognes, you may want to sample before buying, because many people will find the strange, medicinal iodine note off-putting. That iodine note, however, also makes these fragrances smell like no other (that I'm aware of).
