Loris Azzaro was born to Italian parents and spent his much of childhood in Tunis, surrounded by the sophistication and elegance of the Mediterranean. These experiences would ultimately inspire his high-class fashion and accessory designs made for his wife in the late 50s. Local women soon demanded similar products, and the brand was born in 1965.

In 1967, he revealed his first fashion collection. Celebrities like Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot were known to wear his work, and the brand soon gained considerable international success.
