Costume National was launched by Ennio Capasa and his brother Carlo in Milan in 1986. The company released its first women’s line in 1991 and soon opened stores in major cities including New York City, Paris, Los Angeles and Rome. After designing in Japan, Ennio wanted to bring unusual yet stylish ready-to-wear items to the modern market.

This company has also taken charitable steps to improve the world through environmentalism efforts. In 2009, the company participated in a Christmas celebration that benefited an Amref initiative called The Water Project. That same year, the company released its “Solar Bag” which was covered in solar panels.
