Ferre Black Cologne by Gianfranco Ferre, Ferre Black Cologne brings a complex aroma to a variety of occasions. Building on a base of dry-scented teak wood and the exotic scent of patchouli, the fragrance is rooted assuredly in a woody theme. The opening accords of citrus and spice come from notes of grapefruit and the cologne’s namesake—black pepper. The floral, spicy middle notes of orange blossom and cardamom present the heart of the fragrance. Ferre Black was introduced in 2015 by Italian fashion designer Gianfranco Ferre.

Known for bridging the worlds of fashion and architecture, Gianfranco Ferre’s nickname was “the architect of fashion.” His formal education earned him a degree in architecture, and he became an accessories designer almost immediately thereafter. Before starting his own company, he worked on perfecting his clean lines and structured layouts on raincoat designs. He featured a full women’s fashion line in 1978, followed by a men’s line in 1982.
