Juliette Has A Gun is owned by French perfumer Romano Ricci. He knew it was his destiny to become a
perfumer since he was a young boy and always believed he would follow in the steps of his grandfather, iconic perfumer Robert Ricci, who has been his hero since he was a child. Before starting Juliette has a Gun, he spent six years working in the perfumery industry and decided to work with master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian of
Mason Francis Kurkdjian. In 2006, he launched Juliette has A Gun. Each of his early fragrances correspond to a facet of Juliette, his modern day imagining of Shakespeare's heroine from Romeo and Juliet. It all started with
Miss Charming and
Lady Vengeance, made it collaboration with Francis Kurkdijan. The first perfume he composed on his own evoke Juliette's sophisticated side with
Citizen Queen,
Calamity J, and
Mad Madame.
Among the line's best selling and
most popular perfumes are
Juliette Has a Gun Not A Perfume, being made out of one single ingredient, Cetalox aka Ambroxan. This ingredient is 100% synthetic and allergen free, and smells like light woods, which makes it popular with both female and male audiences. In 2008, he launched
Midnight Oud based on the agarwood which is ubiquitous today but was not so common at the time.
Juliette Has a Gun offers a wide range of perfumes for men and women. From the innocent and flirtatious Miss Charming and the rosy, rebellious Lady Vengeance of 2006 to 2016's seductively
Into the Void and lusciously tart and fruity
MMMM, Juliette Has a Gun has explored the episodes, ages and stages of the heroine's love of life and search for freedom through fragrance.. Over the past fifteen years, the brand has confidently traveled divergent perfume pathways, expertly crafting a variety of fragrances featuring the synthetic effortlessness of
Anyway, the animalic (
Calamity J) and even the musky gender bender (
Gentlewoman.) In 2017, Romano Ricci composed a fantastic fragrance that flew under the radar:
Juliette Has A Gun Sunny Side Up. His idea was to create a sandalwood perfume for men and women that would inspire happy and positive feelings.
Juliette Has A Gun Moscow Mule was inspired by the cocktail of the same name which Romano Ricci associates with copper (the drink is traditionally served in copper mugs) and with ginger. In 2019, Juliette Has a Gun launched
Vanilla Vibes. This was the first time Romano Ricci worked with
vanilla as a linchpin ingredient and he needed to find a twist as he's not a fan of
sweet notes. For Juliette Has A Gun Vanilla Vibes he chose to balance what could be cloying with sea salt. Not plain old vanilla here, there's a mineral quality that adds something very different to Juliette Has A Gun Vanilla Vibes that distinguishes it from all his other fragrances.
While Juliette Has a Gun may have started out as a fragrance collection, it now includes a wide range of
colognes and
perfumes for men and women- from fruity-floral,
roses, fresh,
oud, and woody scents and is one of the most well-known niche collections in the world.
