Arpege Perfume by Lanvin, Arpege perfume takes its name from the musical term, "arpeggio." Lanvin released this fragrance in 1927. Its composition opens with orris, honeysuckle, peach, aldehyde, bergamot and orange bloom. The core brings out sensitive plants, such as geranium, violet, tuberose, coriander, ylang-ylang, jasmine and rose. The base contains musk, vanilla, patchouli, vetiver and sandal.

Lavin was first founded as a fashion company that joined the Union of Sewing in 1909. The brand
soon became famous for its fashionable garments. In particular, the company was known for producing matching ensembles for mothers and daughters. The brand branches out over the decades to include undergarments, home d├ęcor and fragrances.

Andre Fraysse and Paul Vacher are the perfumers who developed Arpege perfume. The image on the bottle was designed by Alber Elbaz. He wanted the bottle to showcase the nature of the company before its expansion. The image features a daughter and mother standing side-by-side. All products are original, authentic name brands. We do not sell knockoffs or imitations.

Hey, everyone. It's Sarah. And today I'll be reviewing Arpege by Lanvin. This perfume was launched in 1927 and has proved itself a classic. It's filled with notes like bergamot, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, Florentine iris, aldehydes, and amber. I think that it's absolutely intriguing, seductive, and simply beautiful. Any woman of any age can wear this and I would recommend this for evening. All right, everyone. That's all for today. Classic, Channel 5-like

Not much that can be said about Arpege, one of the few great old classics that are still around and unspoiled. Definitely an old-school, floral-oriental-aldehydic-woody, complex, non-linear expensive smelling fragrance that not everybody can wear to their advantage, but can give a great boost to

one's personality. Obviously I do not think it works on everyone and on any occasion and has been, perhaps, overused and overimitated (along with its cousin, Channel 5). A real perfumey perfume, the opposite of minimalistic. Incredibly cheap.

Arpege

The current version of Arpege has an under scent that the original didn't have. I have used it for a long time and still have a bit of the original scent which is much softer and powdery than what I have received. At the end of the day I still can smell the under-scent which to me is unpleasant

and has more of an edge to it than the original scent. This has been my signature scent for a long time and I am distressed with the current version.

Regret purchase

This Arpege smells NOTHING like what I bought years ago. It is almost putrid. I ordered Ombré Rose, which I have yet to receive weeks later, and do not look forward to receiving it giving my experience with Arpege.

Bottom Line

No, I would not recommend to a friend.

Old School Scent

This is a fragrance from another time. 1927 to be exact. Starts out with a grand display of florals that remind some of °5 or L'air du temp but ends with a heavy dry vetiver musk combo that smells awful, at least on me. Nice black orb bottle, cheap cap. Popular in the 50's, I imagine, with that 'Lady Boss' style of femininity.

Bottom Line

No, I would not recommend to a friend.

Beautiful vintage floral

Aprege is a beautiful aldehydic floral fragrance that smells like another era. If you love vintage fragrances like I do this is a must have. It starts off w/ aldehydes, but they are not screechy, they are bright and sparkling. Like a crisp white shirt. But as the fragrances develops it becomes a beautiful floral w/ roses, ylang, ylang, jasmine, Camilla. Pink, white and yellow flowers. Bouquets of flowers. As it dry's down Aprege becomes softly spicy w/ coriander and other soft spices that combine w/ the last of the flowers. Aprege was created in the 20's so if you are all about fruity/florals or gourmand fragrances you will not like this but if you like fragrances like Jean Patou Joy or Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds you will like Aprege as well.

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

I would always will use this product

Daily use, many, many, years Cannot wear many types of perfumes. Arpege~ & Chanel #5 became my choices. Love both, Arpege` had to find in Canada, if not impossible, so glad FragranceX stocks it. I don't have the worry of trying to search & the price is great.

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

I will continue to buy this product forever!

I use this product just about every day. I get compliments all the time. To me, it's like a warm hug and it lasts quite a while after application. I find that most scednts change on me - not in a good way. It's just my chemical make-up, I guess. But Arpege never changes. I just love it. I have been buyig it for years and will continue to do so. Your prices are very good, I think. I order it online and it always arrives in good condition.

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

Lovely fragrance, good price

Love the scent of Arpege. I wear it anytime for a pick-me-up. I was hoping it was a longer lasting scent.. but no.. It lasts only a few minutes.

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

Just overpowering

This is very heavy for my taste. Smells exactly like pressed powder. The opening is very strong. I only spray it below my waistline because it triggers headache and nausea if i spray at the bak of my ear or neck. Be cautious! Just 1 or 2 sprays. The only good thing about this fragrance is price and longevity. But smellwise, not a fan.

Bottom Line

No, I would not recommend to a friend.

Different smell when it is "young"

Arpege has a different smell when it is "young" than when it is older and more aged. When it is "young" it smells more green and powdery, but when it ages, the color deepens and it becomes more floral or spicy and woody in nature. I know this because my mom had an older bottle of Arpege she had bought or received as a gift in the '60's in a tall, fluted glass bottle where you could unscrew the sprayer on top, and this older Arpege smelled much more mellow and sexy than brand new Arpege in a hermetically sealed spray bottle today. The only way I could think of to accelerate the aging process of a "young" bottle of Arpege would be to put it in a window sill that gets morning sunlight for a certain period of time during the warmer weather. That may do the job of aging your Arpege and making it more mellow and sexy like my mother's old bottle of Arpege was when I was growing up.

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.
