Taif is an ancient city in western Saudi Arabia, from where the Taif rose originates. While the Damask rose (the rose generally found in Western fragrances) is floral and a little lemon-scented, the Taif rose contains traces of tea tannins on top of the floral scent. Montale is a fragrance house that was founded in 2003 by Frenchman Pierre Montale. He is heavily influenced by his previous work for Saudi Arabian royalty, in which he created unique customized fragrances for members of the nobility. His scents often feature traditionally Middle Eastern fragrance ingredients, such as aoud, sandalwood and incense, and in intense concentrations.
