Open Black Cologne by Roger & Gallet, The 2013 release of Open Black riffs off the original men’s fragrance while adopting new, modern packaging to appeal to contemporary wearers. Its warm, sweet and green scent results from its combination of herbal, fresh, tobacco, spicy and citrus accords. Like the first version of this cologne, it starts off with top notes of bergamot and lemon enhanced by lavender. The middle notes pair up sage and thyme, and the blend ends with base notes of vetiver, tobacco and patchouli.

Although Roger & Gallet did not enter the perfumery business until the 1860s, these business partners inherited a legacy from the line’s original creator, Jean Marie Farina. The French perfume master released his first scent, Jean Marie Farina Extra Vieille, in 1806. Before selling his business, he produced several fragrances and soaps. Post-purchase releases include Lavender Royale in 1899, Le Jade in 1923 and Blue Carnation in 1937. The latest of its more than 40 scents includes 2018’s Feuille de Figuier. Hey, everyone, Cess here. And today I'll be reviewing Open Black by Roger & Gallet. This inexpensive scent is a really excellent one, and is best described as an aromatic fragrance. It opens with a mix of lavender and lemon, which soon gives way to a stronger heart notes of sage and thyme before leading into base notes of patchouli, vetiver, and a strong tobacco note. I recommend it for fall, winter, and spring, and I'm really, really impressed of how long-lasting it is. That's all for now. I would buy this product again and again!

Great summer scent for after the gym. Clean, tending masculine, somewhat more luxurious-smelling than the original Open, which is also excellent.

a modern retro, very nice, for the price unbeatable

i have the vintage l' homme of R&G, which i love very much. open black is like a modern version of it. i would say that this is a retro scent, but smells not like your grandfathers favourites. azzarro p.h., paco rabanne p.h. comes to mind, but with a more modern vibe. sillage is not overpowering, it stays long time, not so strong as the vintage. it has also not the scent quality of the vintage, which smells more natural.
