The Art of Salvador Dali Cologne and Perfume
Salvador Dali is much better known for his Surrealist artwork than his perfumes, but nevertheless, his scents made a splash in the world of fragrance. Salvador Dali was born in Spain in 1904 and began experimenting with Cubist painting, which developed into the Surrealist style he's known for today, as seen in world-famous paintings like The Persistence of Memory. In 1983, Dali decided to create a perfume in honor of his late wife and muse, Gala. Dali was approached by a perfumer named Jean-Pierre Grivory, a great admirer of Dali's work, and the two of them worked together to create the first Salvador Dali perfume. The bottle design is based on Dali's painting Apparition of the Face of the Aphrodite of Knido. The scent was based on jasmine and rose, Dali and Gala's favorite plants.
