Its floral, sweet, musky, and fruity main accords make this a versatile scent that can be worn through all seasons, day or night. The perfume leads with a top note of red berries, followed by a heart note of orchid and a base note of musk. It provides moderate longevity and sillage and is bottled in an elegant flacon that features a round, gold topper and shou, the Chinese symbol of longevity. Moroccan master perfumer Carlos Benaim of International Flavors and Fragrances is responsible for creating the Silk Road fragrance collection.

Shanghai Tang is a luxury fashion and homeware brand that was founded in 1994 by businessman David Tang.
