Tom Ford is a company founded by Thomas Carlyle Ford, fashion designer and film director. Though he studied architecture at Parsons School of Design, the American designer worked overseas for a fashion house and gained an interest in the fashion industry. After his initial position with Cathy Hardwick, another American designer, Ford began working with Perry Ellis. At this time, Ford believed his focus should be shifted to Europe to pursue better opportunities in the industry and eventually accepted a position with Gucci in 1990. In 2005, Ford returned to the United States and began to develop his own eponymous brand, supplying apparel, accessories, and eyewear. A partnership was also forged with Estee Lauder that same year.
