Tom Ford's "London" has often been described as "daring", and I agree. It exemplifies what I think of when I hear the term "avant-garde" applied to niche perfumery. The listed ingredients combine to create an entity beyond the sum of its parts. This is not a typically accessible fragrance at all, but it is wearable and enjoyable if you have the inclination. It's the smell of transit, the smell of metropolitan bustle, of public spaces where metal and fabric make contact. It's weird in that way, but it works!
