I expected something better
I love rose scents. RR smells like rose and something else strange. I have a similar rose perfume which smells way better but mine is 3 times cheaper, so I was not happy when I got it. The smell is weak and strange. I expected it to have a better base. They say Rose Rouge is similar to Roses Berberanza which I really wanted to try but is difficult to find, so I gave RR a try. It was not worth it.

Van Cleefs & Arpels Rose Rouge
I barreled through my first bottle of Rose Rouge, primarily because it doesn't hold. I purchased a second bottle and have decided to wait until the weather is cooler to test again. The fragrance is a sweet floral and is very beautiful and feminine. My only issue is the lasting power....it's typically a skin scene after 30 minutes of wear.

Gave this a chance and have no regrets
I was actually purchasing another fragrance from the same Collection and chose this as a blind buy. When I received it, the first couple of sprays left me with headaches. I was a little concerned if I'd ever use it - but thankfully, after the third time or so, the scent turned and I love it (or was it my nose?). It's truly long lasting and has a wonderful smell. It does evoke some sensuality / sexiness and can be suitable for evening wear. However, you can get away with wearing this during the day. It isn't a sharp scent, it's well blended and reminds me of Estee Lauder's Modern Muse Le Rouge. I suppose the make-up is quite similar. The bottle is super classy, it does feel quite luxurious and it does bring a smile when you hold it for a spritz.
