Use common sense
Okay. Before you believe this is "an old man scent" let's talk some common sense. There are 2 types of cologne consumers. Type 1's are dating and want to impress people, typically the opposite sex. For them, fragrance is a tool. Type 2's are connoisseurs of fragrance and appreciate them as an art form. They wear cologne for themselves, often out of nostalgia. So if you know you are type 1 and hear a type 2 reviewer say that a fragrance from the 1930's is amazing, you probably should not listen to that review. And it goes vice versa as well. If you are in your 20's and you wanna impress a girl the same age, Caron pour homme is going to be "an old man smell". Any fragrance more than 10 years old is going to smell ancient to you. But if you are a type 2 and want to smell what people experienced in the 1930's, it's a wonderful scent. Use common sense and don't trash a classic fragrance because it makes a bad date night cologne!

A very soothing, pleasant fragrance
Usually, I don't care much for lavandar. But I love the lavandar and vanilla concoction in Caron pour un homme. I guess you could wear it any time. But I wear it at home. Either during the day, or at night. I like to spray the bed sheets and pillow cases with it. It's a very soothing fragrance.

A must own
In order to understand the history of mens fragrance you have to know the house of Caron. This fragrance has been in production since 1934, the formulation apparently has held true to Mr. Daltroff's original. Do not listen to all the haters, this stuff is good. It smells distinguished not dated. If you are confident in yourself and pay little attention to mainstream trends, you can wear this. The younger guys and going to have to wear it several times in order to appreciate the power of lavender. Fragrance X as always, thank you. Genuine juice shipped fast.

Might as well buy lavender essential oil
I got the vial sample. Lavender essential oil came to mind. Impression of a calm herb smell. Talcum powdery end. It's nice but then i figured might as well get the essential oil. Cheaper, i think.

As a high schooler back in the '70s and already into style, I remember wearing a Caron which years later I would discover is a woman's scent (Caron Fleur de Rocailles) but which I loved regardless. Fast forward to the present and having watched on YouTube a glowing review about Caron Pour Homme which the reviewer claimed is Tom Ford's signature scent, I blindly bought it asap. Boy, was I disappointed! It smelled very '70s and old-school barbershop aftershave which I don't go for. I tried to like it being a fan of Tom Ford but can't picture myself wearing it not even at home. Had to return.

I have used Caron's Pour Un Homme for more than 40 years It is my favorite aftershave cologne. About 25 years ago I could not purchase it at department stores or drug stores, they stopped using shelf space. This cologne has three basic smells: lavender, vanilla, and musk. The lavender and the vanilla come at the beginning and stay with you throughout the day. They blend very well. The musk stays in the background until the end. Since these spices are not very strong, I have to wear more sprays from this cologne than from the others. I don't mind because it is a very beautiful cologne that won't offend anyone.

I used Caron for the past 40 years and believe it is a sign of quality and great satisfaction. I tried many parfum and eau de toilet but always went back to Caron eau de toilet, only receive compliments and daily people ask me what i am wearing, another positive sign !
