In 1924, Hugo Boss founded his clothing company in Metzingen, Germany. Boss became known as the provider of uniforms to the Nazi Party during the 1930s and through World War Ii. After the war, he was no longer allowed to run the business, and his son-in-law, Eugen Holy, took over ownership and leadership of the company. After Boss died in 1948, the brand began making men’s ready-to-wear suits. By 1985, the company grew enough to be listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
