This scent smells like synthetic leather or ??. Honestly, imho and recognizing scent quality is somewhat subjective, I found this to be awful and discarded a practically full bottle There are a lot of high quality masculine scents in this genre which are far better. Tom Ford or Cartier for example. This one is definitely not for me... a very bad blind buy based solely on the Varvatos label and a valuable lesson learned

My Favorite JV Scent to Date
I've enjoyed John Varvatos Vintage for quite a while, but decided to try Artisan Black. I am quite impressed with it! It's a distinctly masculine blend of citrus, spice & floral notes. Somewhat similar to Terre Homme, if one would like a comparison. Artisan Black is now in my regular rotation of fragrances for daytime or evening.

Another Goodie from Johnny V.
I've bought 2 other John Varvatos fragrances and this one is yet another great smelling cologne of his. I do prefer J.V. Vintage over J.V. Artisan Black but this is a great cologne to add to your collection also. It's starting to grow on me the more I wear it. Give it a try.

I use the fragrance mainly to wear to work and it has drawn a lot of compliments. I find it masculine but not over-powering, very fresh with citrusy and woody notes - but really clean smelling. I love it! Definitely one I will be buying again and again
