Ostara by Penhaligon's is a captivating fragrance released in 2015, designed by the illustrious perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. This remarkable scent draws inspiration from the radiant beauty of the daffodil and the vibrant energy of Spring's renewal. Named after the Germanic goddess of dawn, Ostara is an olfactory tribute to luminosity and rebirth, seamlessly blending classic refinement with modern allure, embodying the luxurious spirit of Penhaligon's.

Fragrance Family:

Floral

Scent Type:

Bright, Fresh, Green

Notes:

Ostara by Penhaligon's unfolds with a magnificent bouquet of verdant top notes, beginning with the bright and lively essence of bergamot and clementine. These citrus notes are beautifully complemented by a green blend of juniper, spearmint, and blackcurrant leaves, evoking the crisp freshness of a spring morning. The heart of the fragrance blooms into a floral explosion, featuring narcissus and hyacinth, enriched with hints of ylang-ylang, cyclamen, and hawthorn. This lush floral composition is emblematic of new beginnings. Finally, the scent settles into a warm and earthy base of vanilla, musk, and benzoin, infused with resins and woods, creating a harmonious and enduring finish that lingers on the skin, reminiscent of the comforting warmth of the sun after a refreshing spring rain.

Suggested Use

Apply Ostara by Penhaligon's to pulse points such as the wrists, neck, and behind the ears for a refined, long-lasting fragrance. For a heightened sensory experience, use this floral fragrance after a morning shower when your skin is warm and well-hydrated; this will enhance the spring-like qualities of the scent, making it ideal for a dynamic day ahead or a serene evening embracing nature's reawakening.

Hey, everyone. Gabrielle here, and today I'll be reviewing Ostara by Penhaligon's, a complex, green floral scent launched by the House in 2015. It's dominated by a note of daffodil, which I really like. Other notes include, but aren't limited to green notes, like violent leaf, juniper, and mint in the top. Floral notes of hyacinth, ylang ylang, and wisteria in the heart, and a sturdy base of vanilla, benzoin, amber, musk, styrax, and white wood. If you're looking for something luxurious for spring, this could easily be your perfect fit. That's all for now, and I hope you enjoyed this review. FAQ for Ostara

What does Ostara by Penhaligon's smell like?

Ostara by Penhaligon's is inspired by the daffodil, capturing the scent of spring in full bloom. The sweet aroma is started with a lively trio of the top notes like bergamot, juniper, and pink pepper. Then it unfolds into a heart of narcissus, beeswax, and ylang-ylang. Vanilla, musk, and vetiver as base notes create a warm and lovely ending. The overall scent is a balance between the sweet floral with the light earthy note, making it feel like a springtime stroll through a garden in the sun.

Is Penhaligon's Ostara discontinued?

Yes, Ostara by Penhaligon's has been discontinued. Although it was a hit at its start, it has been now dropped out of the manufacturing range which thus means it has become a rare item that a lot of perfume lovers are hunting at retail shops or are getting through the different fragrance exchange spots. The beautiful mixture and the theme of spring that it had still amaze the people who have tried it.

Is Ostara suitable for all occasions?

Ostara is a versatile fragrance that can be worn daily or for special occasions. Its fresh floral scent makes it perfect for daytime wear, whether you are on a workday or enjoying a casual outing. The warmth and complexity of its base notes also allow it to go very well to the evening setting, thus showing a very elegant side for dinner parties or celebrations.

What season is Ostara best for?

Ostara by Penhaligon's is best suited for the spring season. The combination of its floral and fresh notes with bright and blooming nature resonates with the revival of nature during this time, thus, proves complementing the surrounding atmosphere. Besides its warmth, it is also a fragrance that can be worn in other years, for example, by those who are not giving up on the idea of being surrounded by spring.

Can Ostara by Penhaligon's be worn by both men and women?

While Ostara is traditionally marketed towards women due to its floral character, its balanced composition also makes it an appealing choice for men who appreciate lighter, fresher scents. Its difference is found in the fact that it is universal, which is why it is a wonderful gift for anyone, who is fond of nature-inspired scents of wood and earth.

Where do you apply Ostara by Penhaligon's?

For best results, Ostara should be applied to pulse points where the skin is warmest, such as behind the ears, on the wrists, and at the base of the neck. The warm skin can then facilitate the fragrance to diffuse along with your own body heat. Adding a silvery note on the clothes or the scent of it in the hair is a good way to make the smell last longer, giving a little hint of the fragrance when you go.

How long does Ostara last?

Ostara by Penhaligon's typically offers moderate longevity, lasting approximately 4 to 6 hours depending on skin chemistry and environmental conditions. Likewise, its sillage is moderate, which means it is a pleasant and noticeable presence without being overpowering. For a full-day wear, reapplication is advisable, particularly on the hot summer days.

For collection as the package is cute and already discontinued. It is very green and kind of salty, remind me of my grandma.

Lovely

A fresh, strong floral that's sweet but not at all powdery or rose-influenced. It strongly reminds me of the heady scent of massed, potted Easter lilies, with a background of damp earth. Like a lily, it has a delicate feel but lasts well. It settles down and the earthiness remains in the background, but stays sweet and fresh. Invigorating and happy-making, and one of my very favorite fragrances.

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

Most Realistic Flower

This is the most realistic flower smell I've ever tried. This is not a typical "floral." It smells like the whole flower, greens and all. It's gorgeous and a really lovely addition to my collection. So glad I found it on Feagrancex!!

Bottom Line

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.
