Hey, everyone Jj here. And today I will be reviewing secrets oud by Caron. This has a really interesting story. So Richard Frey's composed this in 2011 on the request of a prince from the United Arab Emirates, as a favor for his wedding. And it's best described as an herbal earthy scents. A strong heart note of Himalayan spikena dominates this scent, supported by top notes of roses and laudanum, a heart note of jasmine and base of oud. I recommend it for fall and winter night wear in particular or if you feel like smelling like royalty. OK, that's all for now. For Fans Of Oud

To understand and appreciate this fragrance, you have to understand agarwood (also known as oud). Oud can be earthy and resinous (think of frankincense), downright medicinal, camphorous (like a muscle rub). I don't really go for the agarwood (oud) note most of the time unless it's very subtle and well blended into the composition simply because oud is way too dominant and overpowering. This perfume by Caron (who made masterpieces (in the original formulas before all these reformulations took place in the 21st century) like Poivre, Tabac Blond to name a few) is a smoky, slightly sweet and somewhat medicinal fragrance for lovers of oud. I just found the medicinal vibe too overwhelming with my chemistry. However, I do love the house of Caron and their perfumery skill in creating scents just to mention.

No, I would not recommend to a friend.
