Purple flowers in a dewy forest
It really does smell like violets on the edge of a forest in a dewy mist. Very etheral, almost Victorian fragrance. Evokes a by gone era, something you can imagine Victorian ladies would have adored as a fragrance. Great sillage. A classic, feminine, dare I say a ghostly aura of scent. It would definitely appeal to a goth girl.

A mega disappointment
I am very fond of Guerlain Acqua Allegoria Pampelune, and I have been very curious to try a perfume I can't find in France. It was a thorough disappointment. As I had opened the box, I could not send it back., which I would have done right away.

I bought this after the great description in the book Perfumes A-Z Guide, and on first spray realised it had a scent I don't like - Iris or Violet. Anyhow my girlfriend loves it!! So I was delighted to be able to give it to her as a special gift.

Composed in 1906 Apres L'Ondee cannot translate into today's world, but some of us, those who own old houses, love antique furniture and appreciate a woodland scent will continue to love it. You could be forgiven for thinking you were in the back of Uncle Digory's wardrobe at first application. The violet comes through a little later. JC Ellena's Eau d'Hiver is, I believe, a modern interpretation of Apres L'Ondee. Try before you buy
