Unexpected Cologne
The second eau de cologne from Guerlain. This was created by Aimee Guerlain who also created Jicky, which is everyone's all time favorite classic. As for the big picture, this is a citrus-lavender combo. However, this is not the eau de cologne you would expect. In the very opening of this fragrance, you are going to be hit with a noticeable animalic something which quickly fades away. I am speculating it comes from the oakmoss which is also a part of this composition. The animalicness of the opening is in today's standards, not refreshing to be honest. I really don't understand the point on throwing something animalic in the opening in a eau de cologne style fragrance as you are supposed to feel refreshing when putting it on. Maybe these kind of vibes were popular back then. Quite interesting if you think of that. But at the end of the day I find myself reaching towards eau de cologne Imperial more than this.

Classics eau de cologne, not much different from 4711
It's a classic eau de cologne, and (I hate to say it) not really different from dear old 4711, which I love - and is half the price. So I'll not buy again, but it's very nice.
