The name Guerlain has long been associated with luxury and sophistication – the perfume house was founded by Pierre-Francois Pascal Guerlain in 1828. Sixty years later, Aime Guerlain created Jicky, the company's first perfume. Not only did this scent pave the way for many future years of fragrance success; it included an innovative touch of coumarin.
The use of synthetic materials as a perfume ingredient was largely unheard of at the time. The founder's family members would later go on to concoct some of the most well-loved perfumes in history, including L'Huere Bleue in 1912 and Shalimar in 1925.
