truly elegant and somewhat airy animalic frgrance
I'm one of those fragrance enthusiasts who don't detect an overwhelming sweetness in this scent and don't link its essence to gingerbread. To me, it embodies a truly elegant and somewhat airy animalic quality. I envision adorable beavers that have just indulged in a high-end beauty salon experience, holding glasses of spiced mulled wine with fragrant orange slices floating in them. They engage in conversations while sipping on slim cigarillos crafted from premium tobacco. Christopher Sheldrake has once again delivered an outstanding piece of art. It's niche yet approachable, steering clear of eccentric notes, and that's precisely why I admire the Serge Lutens brand for its sensible approach to crafting captivating fragrances. Wishing everyone good holidays 🎄❄️

Nice Work Serge Lutens
I had to get this bottle. I think they discontinued it last year. First I got an earthy calming vibe from it. Then I noticed the ginger. A fragrance that calms but keeps you sharp fresh and interesting throughout the day. I feel more of a Fall to Winter wear.

French
When I ordered this I was intriqued by the story behind the notes and the reviews good and bad. I girded my olfactory in anticipation of something potentially repulsive to be honest. Instead, I got an intriguing and very french fragrance that smells, to me, like a very high end men's parfum. Soft, elegant, unique. I find it to be beautiful.

Sitting by the fireside
The bottle and packaging are simple. But the added atomiser was a nice touch so you opt to spritz or pour. The juice is a wonderful purple Carmine colour which leads to you to expect something otherworldly, it is and it isn't. The best way I can describe it for you is if you imagine sitting besides a cast iron wood burner on a cosy evening, sipping mulled apple cider and enjoying speculoos biscuits, you capture the initial aromas, the you open the stove door to add another log and the room fills with aromatic woodsmoke that smells deliciously fragrant and enveloping. And there you have it. Lovely, not much development beside the head and heart and whilst initially quite powerful, very amicable for the next 12 or so hours but very close to the skin by which time.

Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

Very interesting!
I tried this perfume when I bought it and it is, definitely, a very interesting and a very different one. I've heard mixed reviews about but I really do like it and find it doesnt smell bad at all. It does become very powdery. I don't really pick up the castoreum in it, but I think it's probably because I didn't let it sit on my skin for very long since I was just testing it, hence I can't really comment on the longevity of it just yet.
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend to a friend.

Great gourmand unisex with a twist
This smells mostly like a gourmand "mulled wine with gingerbread spices" unisex frag, but there's an interesting twist: the super realistic gunpowder note, fresh from the shooting range. Both myself and my husband loved it, it's sensual, extraordinary and sexy, both on men and women. Sweet and spicy, but with a dangerous twist!
Bottom Line
Yes, I would recommend to a friend.
